Scott S. Brooks, Esq
Mr. Brooks is a real estate attorney licensed in California with more than 30 years of real property and banking related experience. Among his many achievements, In the early to mid 1980's Mr. Brooks worked for Arnold Pacific Properties where as Associate General Counsel he participated in the development, construction, leasing and management of over 10 million square feet of retail space across the western United States. In the late 1980's, Mr. Brooks was employed in the capacity of Senior Workout Counsel for Far West Savings and Loan Association concentrating on the workout and restructure of various commercial loans across the country whose principal balances were in excess of 5 million dollars or more. In 1990 he joined Downey Savings and Loan Association elevating to the position of General Counsel of DSL Servicing, the loan and asset portfolio management arm of Downey Savings. During his tenure at Downey Savings, the Mortgage Company was servicing in excess of 500 million in loans and assets. Mr. Brooks was a key member of the team that was instrumental in bringing Downey Savings into compliance with FIRREA. In 1997, Mr. Brooks created Burrow Closing Management Corporation ("BCMC"). BCMC was the first centralized national title and closing coordiantion platform for REO properties for loan servicers’. Because of the unique closing operation built by Mr. Brooks, Freddie Mac chose BCMC as its sole national closing and title provider. While at BCMC, Mr. Brooks created a landscape for bringing local closing and title companies to a single place to meet with the clients and discuss and resolve issues in closing and title particular to REO. In addition, Mr. Brooks developed one of the first internet based title and closing softeware systems allowing the clients and closers to communicate to each other and stay on the "same page" in each file. This insured better title resolution and closing time lines unheard of in REO at the time. Mr. Brooks was instrumental in effecting the sale of BCMC to Cendant Corporation which later became a part of Cendant Settlement Services Group ("CSSG") the forerunner to Reology. While at CSSG Mr. Brooks was the lead on the Team that brought all Cendant Mobility Relocation closings (30000 per year) and title into the CSSG Group. That model is still being utilized today. The platform was subsequently sold to First American Title Company and is now known as First American Asset Closing Service ("FAACS"). Thereafter, Mr. Brooks worked with ServiceLink and was responsible for assisting and developing their nationwide REO closing and title model. Currently Mr. Brooks has been co-owner of Vendor Connect, LLC a nationwide REO closing coordinator. Mr. Brooks has consulted with a variety of recognizable companies, among them are Alliance Title, Lawyer’s Title, Commerce Title, Ocwen, Specialized Loan Services, Altisource, Reverse Mortgage Solutions, NationStar, VRM and RealtyTrac, to name a few. Over the last 30+ years Mr. Brooks has consulted with attorneys and independent title agents across the country using his extensive knowledge to create solutions and generate revenue opportunities for all of them.
Mr. Brooks obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree from Bethany College in 1978 and graduated from Western State College of Law in 1982.
